Jennifer Rush (born September 28, 1960, Astoria, New York City) is an American pop-rock singer who achieved massive success primarily in Europe starting in the mid-1980s. Her signature hit, “The Power of Love” (1984), became a global phenomenon, reaching Number 1 in the UK, Australia, Canada, and several European countries, and was the best-selling single of 1985 in the UK. It was covered by Air Supply, Laura Branigan and Céline Dion and others. Her 1989 album “Wings of Desire” including the title song was moderately successful, peaking in the Top 20 in Germany (Number 12) and Switzerland (Number 13).
